portrait practice
This is practice for my portrait. I did three eyes, three lips, three noses, and three ears. I had a lot of fun doing this. I focused most on shading and value. On the side I was focusing on the correct shape. I struggled with the noses the most. I just tried to focus on the shading and it helped it a lot. 9/10
My sketchbook
This is my completed sketchbook. I had so much fun creating this. I described the details of the inside (the cover and the end pages), in the paragraphs below this one. On the other hand, the outside looks very fun with the bright colors and different patterns, it creates a sense of unity, especially with the warmer colors on one side and the cooler ones on the other. I loved how I tied it together with the pink yarn and I think I chose the perfect design for the spine. I struggled figuring out how to put the covers and the paper together. I had the easiest time threading the yarn through. I really loved how this turned out. I would totally do this again. 10/10
cover
I have now added my end pages onto the cover. I definitely think I have improved since last year. I decided I wanted my sketchbook to be landscape, and the spine to be 2 inches. I chose black fabric because I think that I needed to add a dark, plain color that would make the brighter aspects that i am going to add to my sketchbook, stand out. I focused on my craft and precision. I think I accomplished this well. It is way better than it was last year, and I am excited to move on to the next step.
End pages
- These are the end pages for my sketchbook, I decided I wanted to do one page with warm colors and the other with cool colors. Doing this though, i had to figure out how I wanted to tie them together. I decided I wanted a gold stripe along the lines of the watercolor splashes, and some pink watercolor so they would have a color in common. It is hard to see in the photos but I think these lines really pulled them together. I practiced my mixing of colors and blending them to look intentional. I am going to put this in my japanese stab binding sketchbook.
