Final project
This is my final project. I decided to go for a yin and yang representation but with me and my twin. My goal with this project was to have good value and accurate proportions. I tried to add things to the painting that correlate to what we like to do in our free time. One thing I struggled with was the face on Lucas. I had the most fun experimenting with the shades of yellow. I wish I could've added a little more detail, but overall I think it turned out nice.
Think Outside the box
For this project we had to cut out a magazine square and hide it in our art piece. I picked out a simple blue square to hide. I focused on using a variety of colors and hues to distract and hide my square. I added similar shapes to help do this as well. I think I struggled most with trying to create a accurate shade of blue. If I were to do this again I would work on cleaner lines and more accurate colors.
home in perspective
For this project we had to choose to do 1-2-3 point perspective, I chose 3-point. Although, this was the hardest perspective to understand, I think I completed this project with not a lot of issues. I focused mainly on the shape of the house matching my floor plan. The shading was kind of annoying in a way. I didn't have enough time to make it clean and accurate. I tried working on my background and only got a sidewalk in and my horizon. This project was fun, I rate my work a 7/10.
1-2-3 point perspective practice
For this practice we had to fill each page with 1-2-3 point perspective squares or boxes. I already knew how to do the 1-2 point, I had to take more time on the 3 point, but soon got the hang of it. I got 5/5 for all 3 perspectives.
Weekly Drawing 2/24/23
The theme for this weekly drawing is happy memory. I chose to draw an award I got when I graduated middle school. It shows how hard I had worked to get where I am now. For this sketch my objective was to get the braids and shades correct on the rope, which I think I executed nicely. I got a 10/10 on this sketch.
My abstract piece
I really liked this project, it was fun and I really enjoyed using a bunch of colors. I also enjoyed that we had steps to follow and after we could personalize it. I spent more time on this project than most. I tried to be free with this project but also keep the flow and unity there. I used colored pencils, highlighters, and sharpies.
My Alebrije
For this project we had to create an alebrije. I made mine have a dinosaur tail, shark fin, penguin body, bird beak, pig ears, seal feet. My goal for this project was to work on my value, techniques with the brushes and clay. I went into this project with a plan, but ended up changing it entirely throughout the process, which definitely made it more fun, and I like that I got to use colors of my choice. It took me about 2 weeks to complete this project. If I am being honest I don't think I would do this regularly, simply because I like a more clean way of creating art.
Self portrait
The photo on the left is my self portrait, I worked decently hard on this project. It took me about 1 week to complete this. The camera flips the photo, but if you flip it back it will look 100x better. I loved working on the value of the hair and the texture of my shirt. The hardest part of this assignment was getting the angle of my eyes correct and proportional. We had to add three "symbols" to this drawing. I added a "tattoo" of my twin brother's name since he is a big part of my life and is definitely my best friend. i added butterflies because they are my favorite insect, and to symbolize beauty, freedom, and gentleness since those are qualities I find beautiful. I had a lot of fun on this project, and will definitely try this again when i have expanded my knowledge.
impressionism painting
The first photo added is my reference. I made it just to figure out my placement and the different shades I want to use for my real painting. After making my reference, I got out my canvas and started making my colors. I started with the sky and moved down. I tried to make this painting very colorful. I added some light touches with the clouds and the people. I struggled on figuring out how I wanted to do the flowers. i had the least trouble with the water. Overall, I would say I had a lot of fun on this project!
weekly drawings: week 7/8
Week 7: Southern Nights
For this drawing I drew a cactus with shooting stars in the background. I really tried to focus on the value and shading in this project. I ended up using a lot of crosshatching. I got a 10/10 on this drawing.
Week 8: Leaves
For this sketch i drew a couple of leaves. I focused on the shading and form of the leaves. I struggled with variety and gradation. I got a 9/10 on this project.

MY first project
For this project I sketched out a photo of a flower. I first sketched the outline of the flower on a blank piece of paper. After I took a few looks over it I asked for permission to start adding in the value. It took me awhile to finish the background and even it out. I think it turned out nicely though. The only things I would work on are the details in the middle of the flower and having a smoother texture and darker value in the background. This project took approximately about a week.
MY SKETCHBOOK
For this project I created my own sketchbook! It was a little rough at first but I slowly got used to it. I used cloth and wood to create my cover. I then used one of my watercolor papers to create my end pages. I used a needle and a thread to attach my signatures to the spine of my sketchbook. This assignment was very fun, I will definitely try again!
